Colony Coffee approached me to create a logo and label system that would stand out in a crowded market while honoring American heritage. Based on the brief, I developed a visual direction that blends historic Americana with bold, Marvel-inspired illustration — resulting in packaging that feels timeless, distinctive, and instantly eye-catching on the shelf.
I began the Colony Coffee project with loose exploratory sketches to establish tone, symbolism, and historical references, ensuring the brand felt rooted in early American heritage. From there, I developed logo concepts that balanced classic structure with bold, modern energy, refining mark, type, and composition in parallel. Once the core identity was set, I created a suite of illustrations designed to feel cohesive across all roasts — blending a Marvel-inspired edge with handcrafted detail — and translated everything into a flexible label system that felt distinctive, eye-catching, and premium on shelf.
The label designs combine historic American storytelling with bold, illustrative craft to create packaging that feels both timeless and distinctive. Each design balances character, clarity, and shelf impact — blending narrative detail, strong typography, and a cohesive visual system across the lineup. The result is a unified suite of labels that honors tradition while standing out with confidence and personality.
Each label tells a story — from early concept and illustration to the final printed design. The system highlights craftsmanship, historical influence, and bold visual storytelling, creating a distinctive shelf presence that feels both timeless and unexpected. More than packaging, the labels serve as a visual extension of the brand’s character and the experience behind every cup.
